magic

I've started a new journal because I'm a spaz. :) I simply have too many ideas at one time to be coherent and I want to start remembering ideas and creative spurts. I love moleskine b/c there is no lines so I can doodle (something I always do - whether on my skin or on paper, sorry mom I WILL get ink poisening before I die) and it stays shut when I want it to...

I still REALLY love this quote...

"...sometimes it's so hard to find what it is I'm trying to say. people might think you can turn creativity on and off, but it's not like that. it just kind of comes out. a mash up of all these things you collect in your mind. you never know when it's gonna happen, but when it does...it's like magic. it's just that simple and it's just that hard..."

so there you go...a look into my spazziness :)

God picks the best colors...

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

On my trip back home to IL I was captivated by the simple beauty of nature. We (especially as women) paint ourselves and dress our selves in colors in order to beautify ourselves...but it never ceased to amaze me at how God effortlessly and brilliantly decorated his flowers and trees and His nature...I know I've never seen a person dress in the blue and purples and pink and greens as I saw in some of these pictures...yes, God does pick the best colors...yes, yes He does.

for those of you who live in the midwest, you'll say "it's just a robin" but to those of us that live west you'll say "oh! it's a robin!"...sometimes it's the simple things like watching a robin look for food in the wet ground that brings back a memory of growing up...

the water looks like diamonds....and I like rain drops...yes, yes I do.

fuschia will forever remind me of my mom and her hanging baskets in the back yard...and getting to see hummingbirds eat from them in the morning...

I think this is called an aster? but I love the vibrance of the purple...very elegant and stately...this is probably my favorite picture...

this will be forever one of my favorite flowers...not exactly but pretty dang close...my mom had baby blue ones on a trellis in our backyard in batavia that I still can smell in my mind's eye...

I was thinking of josh and lindsey with this shot...hydrangea's are going to be so beautiful linds...

these water lilies amaze me...how does something so beautiful grow from something so wet? sheer determination, I think...

owen & georgia...

While on vacation these last weeks, I LOVED getting to take these pictures of an old friends beautiful kids in my old hometown...

Owen was my little helper and ALL boy :) He wanted to look through my camera (the far away one) and asked what all the buttons did and wanted to "hold" my extra camera (in his mind I know he was thinking - you could share cuz' you're not using it right now) :)...curious in everything and anything and super chatty - I definitly would love to hang with that little boy and see life through his eyes! And his eyes! Beautifully blue and a tow head to boot...gonna be a heart breaker some day...

And Ms. Georgia...lovely little girl...I love that she was more hesitant to be my friend...she let Owen do all the talking but she was far from not listening...it was as if her big brown eyes wanted to absorb who I was first before she'd let me into her world...amazing little girl! And her sandy blonde ringlets are simply stunning!

Super fun and easy shoot! Thanks Anne!

Not at all timid about exploring...she giggled a lot at the tall grass that mommy was afraid to go into :)

GQ someday, I'm thinkin'...

oh, to have a stuffed friend or special blanky again...the security it brings :)
